Jan Koester studied Animation at the HFF Konrad Wolf filmschool in Potsdam. His graduation film OUR MAN IN NIRVANA (2005) won many awards, including a Silver Bear at the Berlinale, a Golden Horseman at the Filmfest Dresden and a British Academy for Film and Television Short Film Award at Cinequest festival in San José. In 2008, Jan spent 3 month at an artist residency in Los Angeles, the Villa Aurora, where he painted BEACH LIFE RESSURECTED, a series of diary pictures. He continued this work in 2009 with the series 2009 IN PAINTINGS. In the meantime he worked for the music video SCHWARZ ZU BLAU for PETER FOX. Right now he is directing the animation for a video installation in the Landesmuseum Trier.
